A never ending job - dishes
Giving up the dishwasher is one of the hardest parts of powering-down.
Luckily, it can be easy enough to do dishes by hand if the set-up is there and promotes cleanliness.
I'm switching to a large farmhouse sink and keeping chlorinated water in a pail large enough to wash most dishes. This water only gets changed when needed but is the first step in doing the dishes by hand. The next step is the sit the washed dishes in the sink to line up to get rinsed and stacked in the drain rack. They sit in the rack until they need to be used again and this meant buying 2 matching stacking racks. I should have gotten 3 - 5 racks so I could just do a total rotational storage system. We can now take out our dishwasher and make drawers for storing the dried dishes and the process "simpler".
